One week down in the regular season and with that comes the first edition of our Power Rankings. Pre-season rankings are useless and we won’t get a good idea about whose for real and not for a few weeks but in the meantime heres something to keep you entertained.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)- The world champs pulled out tight win over the Titans but will be tested now without Troy Polamalu for 3-6 weeks.
2. New York Giants (1-0)- The score may not show it but the Giants dominated the Redskins on Sunday. The receivers played well and that defense is scary.
3. Baltimore Ravens (1-0)- They did play the Chiefs but their offense especailly Joe Flacoo look much improved from last year.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)- Facing Drew Bress will be a lot harder than Jake Delhomme this week espcially without McNabb.
5. New England Patroits (1-0)- Squeaked out a win but you knew the whole time they were winning that game.
6. Minnesota Vikings (1-0)- A simple gameplan. Give the ball to Adrian Peterson.
7. Atlanta Falcons (1-0)- Matty Ice showed no signs of a sophomore slump and Tony G looked great.
8. Green Bay Packers (1-0)- The defense looked a lot better but they still gave up 341 yards.
9. New Orleans Saints (1-0)- Drew Brees is looking like the MVP front runner and they get the Eagles without McNabb this week.
10. Indianapolis Colts (1-0)- It wasn’t pretty against the Jags but they came out on top.
11. Tennessee Titans (0-1)- If not for some special teams miscues they would be 1-0.
12. Dallas Cowboys (1-0)- The passing offense didn’t miss a beat without Terrell Owens.
13. San Diego Chargers (1-0)- Not an impresiive performance but they stepped up when they needed to.
14. Chicago Bears (0-1)- They played terribly yet still almost won. The loss of Urlacher will sting though.
15. Arizona Cardinals (0-1)- The Cards were without Breaston and a healthy Boldin so I’ll give them a break.
16. San Francisco 49ers (1-0)- Shain Hill gets the job done and it’s about time the 49ers noticed.
17. New York Jets (1-0)- Great debut for Sanchez and Ryan but the Patroits this week will be the real test.
18. Buffalo Bills (0-1)- Looked very good for the most part and should have won the game. Fred Jackson earned playing time when Lynch returns.
19. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)- Garrard struggled but M.J.D. lived up to the hype ouching the ball a career high 26 times.
20. Seattle Seahawks (1-0)- They took care of business but I’m still not sold that Hasselbeck is 100%.
21. Oakland Raiders (0-1)- Blew a lead but Richard Seymour looked great and they have a nice 1-2 punch at running back.
22. Miami Dolphins (0-1) Chad Pennington looked like the quarterback against the Ravens in the playoffs not the MVP runner up.
23. Denver Broncos (1-0)- It wasn’t pretty but they’ll take it.
24. Houston Texans (0-1)- The offense was completely stymied by the Jets D but Kevin Walter returns this week giving them another weapon.
25. Cincinnati Bengals (0-1)- This team can’t buy a break and the game literally was in their hands.
26. Carolina Panthers (0-1)- What is up with Jake Delhomme? Could we have an A.J. Feeley sighting.
27. Washington Redksins (0-1)- Don’t let the score fool you. They were outclassed by the Giants. Their two touchdowns came on a fake field goal and a garbage time td.
28. Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)- They put up 24 points against the Ravens D with a backup quarter back but let up 38.
29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)- Cadillac Williams looked healthy but the secondary was terrible giving up three long touchdowns.
30. Detroit Lions (0-1)- The defense was overmatched and Matt Stafford struggled mightily.
31. Cleveland Browns (0-1)- It doesn’t matter who is quarterbacking this team, they’re still the Browns.
32. St. Louis Rams (0-1)- They got shut out by the Seahawks and need to replace Marc Bulger. Sadly, he’s their best option with no qb of the future.
