We head into week 7 and we have a new leader in the power rankings. The New Orleans Saints snag the top spot from the Giants after dismantling them this past week.
The big winner this week is surprisingly the Oakland Raiders, who moved up 6 spots but they’re still at 25. The Pats, Cards, and Bills all moved up 5 spots.
The big loser this week is the San Diego Chargers, who tumbled 7 spots to 21 after their MNF loss.
1. New Orleans Saints (5-0) +1
Their impressive win over the Giants sealed their spot atop the rankings.
2. Indianapolis Colts (5-0) +1
Off this past week. Now get the lowly Rams this week.
3. Minnesota Vikings (6-0) +1
Needed some luck again, but you have to be lucky to be good.
4. Denver Broncos (6-0) +1
Big win over the Chargers. Now have a stranglehold on the AFC West.
5. New York Giants (5-1) -4
Looked like a completely different team on Sunday. Will look to rebound against the Cards this week.
6. Atlanta Falcons (4-1) +2
Another win over a quality opponent. Tony Gonzalez has been one of the best off-season acquisitions.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) –
Now riding a 3 game winning streak and got back Polamalu but lost Aaron Smith for the year.
8. New England Patriots (4-2) +5
Brady and the offense played like it was 2007, at least for one game.
9. Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) -3
An embarrassing loss, but traveling across the country I’ll cut them some slack.
10. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) -1
A big letdown for the Bengals and they lost their best pass rusher, Antwan Odom, for the year.
11. Baltimore Ravens (3-3) -1
Another tough defeat for the Ravens. This team is a lot better than their record.
12. Green Bay Packers (3-2) +4
Crushed the Lions but the o-line still surrendered five sacks.
13. Chicago Bears (3-2) –
Let one get away against the Falcons. They need to get Matt Forte going.
14. San Francisco 49ers (3-2) +1
Had a bye following the blowout loss to Atlanta. Michael Crabtree set to play this weekend.
15. Arizona Cardinals (3-2) +5
A very impressive performance by the Cardinals, who put themselves right back in the NFC West race.
16. Dallas Cowboys (3-2) +1
Had a bye to prepare for a big match against the Falcons.
17. New Jersey Jets (3-3) -6
This team is at rock bottom now. Luckily the Raiders are next on the schedule.
18. Miami Dolphins (2-3) –
An off week for the Dolphins, who are on a 2 game winning streak.
19. Houston Texans (3-3) +2
One week they show up, the next they lay an egg.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) +3
Barely beat the Rams at home.
21. San Diego Chargers (2-3) -7
This team is running out of excuses and chances.
22. Carolina Panthers (2-3) –
Two wins in a row now. Finally getting back to running the football.
23. Seattle Seahawks (2-4) -4
After we thought the Seahawks were back they go ahead and play like they did on Sunday.
24. Buffalo Bills (2-4) +5
After a disastrous loss the Browns, the Bills respond by upsetting the Jets.
25. Oakland Raiders (2-4) +6
Who would have thought the Raiders would beat the Eagles?
26. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) +1
They get their first win of the season
27. Washington Redskins (2-4) -3
Only a matter of time before Zorn gets the axe.
28. Detroit Lions (1-5) -3
Playing without Stafford and Johnson, the Lions looked like the 2008 Lions.
29. Tennessee Titans (0-6) -3
This team has given up on the season and quit on their coach.
30. Cleveland Browns (1-5) -2
Derek Anderson was awful again but Eric Mangini is sticking with him.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-6) -1
It’s getting close to Josh Freeman time.
32. St. Louis Rams (0-6) –
Took the Jags to overtime and Bulger looked like an NFL quarterback!
