I had my first truly terrible of week of the season last Sunday. I missed every one going 0 for 4. To anyone who bet based off my picks I apologize.
Let’s see if i can get back on track this week:
Against the Spread
1. New Orleans Saints (-10) over the Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have taken a step back recently and have lost three of its past four. To make matters worse they will likely be without Michael Turner and Matt Ryan this week.
After leading his team to a comeback win two weeks ago, Chris Redman showed why he was out of the league for two years last week in an ugly performance versus the Eagles. The offense scored only seven points and those on the last play of the game. It won’t get any easier this week with the undefeated Saints coming to town.
I expect the Saints to get out to an early lead and not take the foot off the throttle as they demolish the Falcons.
2. Cincinnati Bengals (+7) over the Minnesota Vikings
Arguably the game of the week pits the surprising Bengals against the Favre led Vikings. The Vikings were dealt only their second loss last week against the Cardinals as A.D. was shut down and we saw a glimpse of the old gunslinger, who threw two picks.
The Bengals are the best team in the league against the run and while i don’t see them shutting down A.D. like the Cards did, I do expect them to hold him in check. I think this game will come down to the wire with the Vikings pulling it out with a late field goal.
3. San Francisco 49ers (+4) over the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are coming off a dominating win over one of the best teams in the NFL and can clinch the division with a win so why would I pick against them you ask? A couple of reasons:
First this game screams huge letdown. Coming off an emotional, huge win as the Cardinals feeling pretty good and the 49ers can catch them off guard a bit. Also this game is in San Francisco on Monday Night. The crowd will be into it and so will the team, who would want nothing more than to spoil a division rival’s chance to clinch the division.
Upset Special
San Diego Chargers (+160) over the Dallas Cowboys
The Chargers being underdogs almost makes this game seem as a trap game, but I’m still going with the Chargers.
I’m not a big believer in the Cowboys December swoon as I picked them last week, but the Chargers are simply a better team. They have won seven games in a row and I would probably pick these guys against anybody right now.
Phillip Rivers is a legitimate MVP candidate and will have a big day in this game as he helps the Chargers try and secure a first round bye.
