Video: Santonio Holmes Dresses Up as Santa Claus
Santonio Holmes took some time recently to dress up like Santa Claus at Modell’s Sporting Goods and hand out some New York Jets jersey’s for Christmas.
It’s nice to see a player who often gets labeled as having character issues do some good for the community.
I would love to see the outtakes of this though.
NFL Week 16 Picks Against the Spread
Can you believe were already at Week 16? Only 2 more glorious Sundays left in the regular season. But then there’s the playoffs and ultimately the Super Bowl. Speaking of the Super Bowl, with the regular season almost over its a good time to look back at my pre-season pick. Back in Septemeber, I had the Colts and Packers squaring off in Super Bowl XLV. That’s not looking too good, but I will say my backup pick was Ravens-Falcons, which has a real shot of happening. It’s never to early to start thinking about the Super Bowl and of course bet on the Super Bowl. Right now, the AFC is at -180, while the NFC is at +130. Pretty good odds for both sides.
Now onto the picks. Here’s who I like in Week 16 against the spread. The lines are courtesy of Americasline.com. Home teams are in CAPS.

Video: DeSean Jackson Punt Return TD in Tecmo Bowl
As if Giants fans haven’t suffered enough. Now, they can see DeSean Jackson’s amazing punt return touchdown as time expired reenacted on Tecmo Bowl.
Too bad they don’t have Tom Coughlin running out on the field and verbally abusing Matt Dodge.
Video: Kicker Makes 68 Yard FG
This week the 49ers signed kicker Fabrizio Scaccia to their practice. It was your typical mid week roster move. So why am I devoting a whole post to this? Well, other than the awesome sounding name, Scaccia has some game as well. In a semi-pro game Scaccia once was a 68 yard field goal with room to spare.
He spent the 2009 season with Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League and played this past season in the UFL for the Sacramento Mountain Lions making 12-16 field goal, including a 54 yarder.
Hopefully, this guy can stick into training camp next summer, even if it’s only as a kickoff specialist.

Holiday Gift Guide For NFL Fans
No team generated more buzz in Superbowl odds than the Philadelphia Eagle midway through the season. Kevin Kolb was a strangely trusted entity in NFL betting, but Michael Vick has quickly stolen the starting job and the hearts of millions that love betting on sports. This is a year where unlikely heroes take center stage. Vick could very well be the biggest surprise of all, especially if he capitalizes on the Superbowl odds in 2011 and brings home the first Lombardi Trophy in Philadelphia’s long standing history.
Now back to our regular scheduled programming:
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, the Holiday Season. Teams are making the final playoff push in the NFL, snow is starting to fall outside, and the holidays are right around the corner. What more could you ask for? How about the perfect gift for the NFL fan in your life. While jerseys and team specific apparel are great, face it, they get boring after a while. I mean as much as I love the Jets, I don’t need a kitchen set of all Jets stuff. So to help you in your shopping endeavors, I have complied a list of gifts that all NFL fans would enjoy. There’s something for everybody on here.
5. Video Games
- Madden NFL 11- A classic for any videogamer. You can never go wrong with Madden. Plus, you get to listen to Gus Johnson while you play. It’s a win-win.
- EA Sports NFL Training Camp- Brand new for the holiday season. Looks great though. Only negative is it’s only for the Wii. It says it was developed in collaboration with NFL strength and conditioning coaches. Winder if Sal Alosi contributed? Is there a trip the gunner as he runs down the field mini-game?
4. Books
- Blood, Sweat & Chalk: The Ultimate Football Playbook: How the Great Coaches Built Today’s Game by Tim Layden- Learn about the X’s and O’s and origins of the games greatest schemes like the Zone Blitz, the Cover Two, the West Coast Offense and more.
- The Games That Changed the Game: The Evolution of the NFL in Seven Sundays by Ron Jaworski- 7 games that defined the way the game is played today, by the one and only Ron Jaworski. If you get bored, just try and read the book in Jaworski’s voice and see how far you can get.
3. Online Subscriptions
- Football Outsiders- If your a stats geek, you probably know about Football Outisders. It’s a must have for any number crunching lover out there.
- Pro Football Focus- Similar to Football Ousiders. They have a unique system in grading how players played.
- Pro Football Weekly- Great information and insights that you won’t find anywhere else. For all types of football fans.
2.High End Gifts
- Recliner- What is better than watching your favorite team play on Sunday than sitting in a reclining chair that bears your favorite team on it? It’s perfect for any man cave. They do run a little expensive though.
- Single Game Tickets- Time is running out in the season, but most teams have at least one home game left. If not this year, a promise for next year will work.
- Season Tickets- For those teams that don’t have a waiting list. Sorry Packers fans, your out of luck unless you want to wait 40 years.
1. The Best Gift of All
- NFL Sunday Ticket- Get this for someone and they won’t be leaving their couch from 1 to 7 on Sundays. Arguably the best thing to happen to sports television ever, Sunday Ticket in nothing like you’ve ever experienced. Trust me, once you watch it one you’ll never want to go back.

NFL Week 13 Picks Against the Spread
Week 13 is upon us. The stretch run is in full swing and this week will separate some teams from the rest of the pack. In the AFC, the top 2 seeds will likely be decided as the Steelers take on the Ravens and the Patriots and Jets battle. The best part: both games are on national TV in prime-time. Nice job by the schedule makers. Other key games include the Falcons-Bucs and the Jaguars-Titans. It such make for a will week and come Tuesday morning, the playoff picture should start to look at least a little clearer.

NFL Thanksgiving Day Picks Against the Spread
Football and Thanksgiving. They go together like lamb and tuna fish or spaghetti and meatballs if you prefer.
Anyway, Thanksgiving is upon us and what a better way to celebrate than with three NFL games. The matchups don’t look great on paper (two 2-8 vs 8-2 matchups and a 3-7 vs. 7-3), but in this year’s NFL it would be an upset if at least one of these games wasn’t close or something crazy happened.
Onto the picks. Here’s who I like on Thanksgiving against the spread. The lines are courtesy of Americasline.com. Home teams are in CAPS.
Note: This website does not promote or advocate gambling. This is solely for entertainment purposes.
DETROIT LIONS (+7) over the New England Patriots
It’s been 7 long years since the Lions have won on Thanksgiving. Will they break the streak this year? I doubt it, but this game could go down to the wire. The Lions are tough at home having beaten the Redskins and losing to the Jets and Eagles by three. Add in the fact that the Pats will be looking ahead to next week’s Monday night showdown against the Jets and this game has trap game written all over it.
New Orleans Saints (-4) over the DALLAS COWBOYS
Where have these Cowboys been the entire season? Was Wade Phillips that bad of a coach or does Jason Garrett actually have what it takes to be an NFL head coach? Or is it a mix? This game will be a good test for Garrett. I’m taking the Saints though. The Saints look they are hitting their stride, they get Reggie Bush back (did we think we’d say that at the beginning of the season), plus the fact that the Saints haven’t forgotten about the Cowboys coming into the Superdome and derailing the Saints chances at an undefeated season.
NEW YORK JETS (-9) over the Cincinnati Bengals
The Jets are due for a blowout right? After three straight nail-biters and winning their last five in close fashion they’re overdue. And what better opponent to end that streak than the 2-8 Bengals, won the Jets beat by double digits the two teams they played last season. Marvin Lewis already has one foot out the door and were weeks, maybe days, away from either a Ochocinco or T.O. blowup. I have the over/under set for Week 14. An embarrassing loss on Thanksgiving night could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
