Video: Pierre Garcon Makes Sick One Handed Catch

Peyton Manning dropped back to pass and threw right for Pierre Garcon. The ball looked overthrown, but Garcon reached up in the air with one hand and clawed the ball out of mid air and controlled it into his body all with the use of just one hand.

The catch had Chris Collinsworth gushing over Garcon and the catch and rightfully so. It’s one of the catches of the year, up there with Randy Moss’ one handed grab and Miles Austin’s catch last week.

Now you wonder how Garcon can make a catch like that, yet he drops so many easy ones?

Video: Dallas Cowboys 2010 Blunders

YouTube Preview Image

It has not been a fun season to be a Dallas Cowboys fan. The season started off with such great expectations and promise. Dreams of playing in the Super Bowl in their home stadium were plentiful. Now, 6 weeks later those dreams seem like ages ago. The team is 1-4 and in complete disarray. They are being careless with ball, committing stupid penalties, and play undisciplined.

This video pretty much sums up the Cowboys season to date. If you hate the Cowboys or even need a good laugh you will love this video. And if your a Cowboys fan, you might as well start counting down the days until Wade Phillips is fired and Bill Cowher is introduced as the new coach.

Video: DeSean Jackson, Dunta Robinson Collision

YouTube Preview Image

With the Eagles facing a third and six, Kevin Kolb stood in the pocket looking for a receiver. Pressure was coming and he released the ball finding DeSean Jackson cutting across the field on a crossing route. Unfortunately, Dunta Robinson was coming full speed right at Jackson and the two collided. Both fell to the ground and remained there motionless for a few minutes. Eventually, they both got up and walked off the field. However, they both suffered concussions and didn’t return to the game. Jackson reportedly suffered a “severe concussion” and memory loss.

On the play, Robinson was flagged for a 15 yard penalty, but as you can see in the video the hit was clean as there was no helmet to helmet hit.

Video: Darrelle Revis Hit on Eddie Royal

YouTube Preview Image

Midway through the third quarter of the Jets 24-20 win over the Broncos, the Broncos were faced with a second a seven. Eddie Royal motioned right as Kyle Orton took the snap and rolled right. He threw the ball toward Royal who was running a short out route toward the sideline. Royal caught the ball, turned up field and was immediately met by Darrelle Revis who laid the lumber on Royal jarring the ball free. The hit is so loud that it will make you cringe. The pass was ruled incomplete.

Quotes of the Week: Week 5

A look across the NFL at some the stupidest, craziest, weirdest, greatest, and just funny quotes.. There were too many to list, but here are some of the Week Five’s best:

“It was just total domination.”

- Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak after the teams 34-10 loss to the Giants.

It was and now people are questioning whether these are just the same old Texans again.

“We didn’t win, and it’s my fault.”

- Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer after throwing 3 interceptions in a 24-21 loss to the Buccaneers.

Yeah, pretty much. Those two interceptions late in the game were crucial and now the Bengals are 2-3 not 3-2. We could be witnessing the final games of Carson Palmer in a Bengals uniform the rest of the season.

“I simply pointed out all the good things he did and then I said ‘Of course there was the drop, which was a touchdown.”

- Giants coach Tom Coughlin talking about WR Hakeem Nicks, whose 12 catches 130 yards and 2 touchdowns apparently weren’t enough for Coughlin.

And he wasn’t joking. At least he’s living up to his reputation.

“We’re going to win the division.”

- 49ers President Jed York in a text to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Notice how he didn’t specifically say this year. Yeah maybe in 2014.

“The politically correct answer is that we want to go and fight with the team we have. But whenever you look on the TV and you see breaking news and it’s somebody making a deal like that, a part of you wants to do something to rival the attention that another team is getting from making a big trade. We would definitely welcome that … For us, as players, there’s nothing you can do.”

- Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson

True words spoken by Woodson here.

“It was fun. I said this earlier, it was kind of easy.”

- Lions C Domonic Raiola after beating the Rams 44-6.

You better marinate that W now because it’s going to be a long time before they win like that again.

“It’s terrible.  It’s 0-5, the laughingstock of the National Football League. I think we are losing fans by the minute.”

- Bills S Donte Whitner after the loss to the Jaguars.

Could the Bills really go 0-16?

Week 6 Picks Against the Spread

[picappgallerysingle id="9942021"]Okay, I’m a little angry now. I was 6-8 last week to bring my season numbers to 11-17, not good. I should have been 7-7 this week but caught a real bad break with Brett Favre throwing a pick-6 inside two minutes to help the Jets cover a spread. If the Vikings had turned the ball over on downs, fumbled or thrown an interception that was NOT returned for a touchdown,  the Jets would have just kneeled on the ball for a 22-20 final and a Vikings +4 cover. Oh yeah, they could have scored too, but why would Brett Favre ever do anything good?

Oh well, I need to stop making excuses and pick up a W! Chris is too strong and I need to beat him! Just once! Please!

This week’s picks (lines via Bodog.com, 7pm on Saturday):

San Diego (-8.5) at St. Louis

NFL Fun Facts and Stats: Week 5

I did a similar post last week and it was very popular so I’ve decided to make this a weekly post for now.

Here are just some fun facts and stats I uncovered from Week 5 and the NFL season is general.

NFL Perfection

  • This is the first season since 1970 that no NFL team reached at least 4-0.
  • Last year, after five weeks, five perfect teams remained.

Chargers lose to Raiders

  • The Raiders beat the Chargers for the first time since 2003.
  • The Raiders took less than 5 minutes to become the 10th team since the merger to block two punts in the same game.
  • The Raiders blocked both of Mike Scifres’ first two punts on Sunday. The last player to have consecutive punts blocked was Kelly Goodburn  of the Redskins, but he gets an asterisk because they were his last punt of the 1991 season and his first of 1992. The last punter to suffer consecutive blocks in the same game was Greg Montgomery of the Houston Oilers in 1991.
  • Like a team trying to demonstrate the basics of NFL playing rules, the Raiders scored on a touchdown, a field goal, and a safety, all in the first quarter of their 35-27 win over the Chargers. The Raiders have been responsible for four of the last 10 instances of scoring on each of those play-types in the first quarter of one game, dating back to 1976.
  • The Chargers totaled 506 yards of offense; the Raiders, 279
  • San Diego QB Philip Rivers passed for 431 yards and 2 TD; Oakland QB Jason Campbell, just 159 and 1.
  • The Chargers averaged 9.2 Passing Yards Per Attempt; the Raiders averaged 6.0 Passing Yards Per Attempt
  • The Chargers won the time of possession battle, 32:46 to 27:14

Max Hall

  • Hall became the third undrafted rookie quarterback since 2000 to start and win his first game. The first two? Todd Bouman for the Vikings in 2001 and Matt Moore for the Panthers in 2007.
  • The signing bonus for Arizona’s undrafted QB, Max Hall was just $5,000$; 49,995,000 less than the guaranteed money received by No. 1 overall pick and Rams rookie starter Sam Bradford.
  • Hall was not the first undrafted rookie to start and win against a defending Super Bowl champion. On December 17, 1967, Kent Nix gained only 72 yards passing (12-for-21) but that was good enough to help the Steelers post a 24-17 victory at Lambeau Field.

It’s a Passing League, but that doesn’t equal winning

  • There have been 400 yard passers in 4.6 percent of all games.
  • Seven 400-yard performances in five weeks is more than football saw for the entire decade of the 1970s.
  • The 400-yard passers are 1-6 this year.
  • The ten quarterbacks who lead the league in passing attempts per game are a combined 20-29 (.408) on the season.
  • The run-to-pass ratio Sunday was 41.9-to-58.1, continuing this season’s downward cycle for running attempts. Entering Sunday, the running percentage was 42.9, lowest since 1999.
  • The ten teams that lead the NFL in rushing attempts per game are currently a combined 30-17 (.638) on the season. Not only that, but the top five teams (Atlanta, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New York Jets, Baltimore) are a combined 17-6 (.739).

Todd Collins

  • Counting sacks and interception return yardage, Chicago Bears quarterback Todd Collins dropped back 19 times for a net of four turnovers and minus-17 yards.
  • That was the lowest yardage total in the last 60 years by a starting QB in a victory in which he threw at least four INTs.
  • He is the fifth starting quarterback since 1990 to win a game despite throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns. He’s the first to do it since Rex Grossman in 2006 against the Arizona Cardinals.
  • The totals over the past two weeks? How about 10 of 27 for 68 yards and 5 INT. If you count interceptions as -40 yards. That means he averaged the equivalent of -4.9 yards per pass attempt.

Carolina Panthers

  • The Panthers became the first NFL team since 1999 to start a rookie quarterback and two rookie receivers when Jimmy Clausen, Brandon LaFell and David Gettis all started in Week 5.
  • The Panthers have five touchdowns and 14 turnovers.
  • The Panthers have scored in each quarter this season; however, they have yet to score a touchdown in the first and fourth quarters.

Tough Time for the Bills

  • The Bills enter their bye week with an 0-5 record for the fifth time in franchise history, and first since 1985.
  • Buffalo allowed 30 points in four straight games for the first time in team history. It’s a stretch in which they’ve been outscored 146-77.

Lions Blowout

  • The Lions became the first NFL team ever to snap a double-digit losing streak with a win by 30 points or more.
  • The Lions won by more than a touchdown for the first time since Nov. 4, 2007, when they beat Denver 44-7. The win was also the Lions’ most lopsided since beating the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars 44-0 in 1995.
  • Lions quarterback Shaun Hill made 19 regular-season starts prior to Sunday’s 44-6 victory, and he won only one of them by 20 or more points. Last season, Hill led the 49ers to a 35-0 victory over … wait for it … the Rams.

Divisional Games vs  Non-Divisional

  • 18 of the 26 divisional games played this season have been decided by eight points or less.
  • 45.8 percent of non-divisional games have been decided by eight points or fewer.

Saints Slump

  • New Orleans has just seven touchdowns in 19 red zone appearances.
  • Jacksonville 107 points scored, New Orleans 99.

Streaks

  • Antonio Gates caught a touchdown pass in a ninth straight regular-season game, extends his own NFL record for tight ends.
  • The Broncos are now 0-5 against the Ravens in Baltimore. In those games, Denver has been outscored 142-56, including 60-24 over the past two years.
  • The Titans won their 11th straight against an NFC team, the NFL’s longest active non-conference win streak.
  • The winless 49ers lost 27-24 to the Philadelphia Eagles to drop to 0-5, their first such start since losing seven in a row to begin a 2-14 season in 1979 under first-year coach Bill Walsh.
  • CB Ronde Barber started his 172nd straight game, tying Dick LeBeau for the longest streak by a cornerback in league history.
  • Derrick Dockery lost a streak of 115 consecutive games played.

Other Stats

  • The NFC West is 0-7 on the road outside of the division after St. Louis’ 44-6 loss to the Lions.

  • The Jaguars have 11 sacks this seasons. They had 14 all of last season.
  • Tony Romo was sacked five times out of shotgun formations in the loss to the Tennessee Titans. In Dallas’ first three games, Romo had not been sacked in 76 pass attempts out of shotgun.
  • The Arizona Cardinals beat the New Orleans Saints, 30-20, without a rushing or receiving touchdown. They’re the first team to score 30 points without a rushing or receiving touchdown since the Bears beat the Green Bay Packers in 1993, 30-17.
  • Josh Scobee is off to one of the best starts in placekicking history. He’s been given 10 field-goal attempts – only one of which was under 40 yards. And he’s hit all 10.
  • The Jets didn’t commit a turnover Monday night against the Vikings, the team’s fourth straight turnover-free game. That ties an N.F.L. record: 13 teams since 1960 have gone four consecutive games without a turnover.
  • Linebacker Andra Davis’ interception was the first by the Bills this season, a year after they had an AFC-leading 28.
  • The Jets didn’t commit a turnover Monday night against the Vikings, the team’s fourth straight turnover-free game. That ties an N.F.L. record

  • It was only the third time in the last eight seasons that Indianapolis failed to score a TD in the first three quarters of a regular-season home game.
  • Starting with his implosion for the Carolina Panthers in the 2008 NFC Divisional Playoffs, Delhomme has committed 31 turnovers (27 interceptions, four fumbles lost) in his last 14 games.
  • Kansas City has yet to give up 20 points in four games so far this season. Last season its defense allowed at least 20 points in four of their first five games (all losses).

  • The Atlanta Falcons are averaging 17 more plays per game than their opponents. Good teams typically average five to 10 more plays per game.

Be sure to check back next week for more fun facts and stats from the NFL.

Video: Chargers Fan Cries After Loss to Raiders

Kid cries in his basement after the Chargers lost to the Raiders 35-27 last Sunday.

How cruel is the mom? First she videotapes the whole thing and then she uploads it on Youtube. That’s brutal.

Hey, at least it’s not as bad as the crying Giants fans. The bright side: he could end up getting a Web Redemption on Tosh.0.
