There isn’t one spread that is higher than 8 ½ for the NFL games on tap forWeek 15 of the NFL season. Most of the games should be very close and with several games facing elimination with a loss, the atmosphere will be playoff like as only 3 weeks remain in the NFL regular season.
Game of the Week
After a huge 52-27 win over the New Orleans Saints last week, the New York Giants look to take down another NFC South opponent when they visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM on FOX. The Falcons are coming off their second loss of the season after the Carolina Panthers defeated them by a score of 30-20. Atlanta has already clinched the NFC South, but they are looking to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. This game features two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in the Giants Eli Manning and the Falcons Matt Ryan.
This one should be a high scoring affair, although New York’s starting running back Ahmad Bradshaw is out with a sprained knee. The Giants secondary will be hampered as well without starting safety Kenny Phillips and starting cornerback Prince Amukamara. For the Falcons, cornerback Asante Samuel and wide receivers Harry Douglas and Roddy White are questionable. For the Giants last week, backup running back David Wilson had a breakout game and he will be the go to rusher for New York this week with Bradshaw out. In the end, the Giants should beat the Falcons by a score of 37-31.
Upset of the Week
The Indianapolis Colts are playing very good football of late and visit a Houston Texans team on Sunday that is coming off of their worst loss of the season. The Texans lost to the New England Patriots 42-14 on Monday Night Football, but still have the best record in the AFC at 11-2 and have clinched a playoff spot. The Colts are led by their rookie quarterback Andrew Luck and have won three games in a row.
The Colts have also won three of their last four road games and need to play stellar to beat a Houston team that is 5-1 at home this season. The Texans and Colts have not met this season and will play twice in the final three games of the season. If the Colts win out and the Texans lose their remaining three games the Colts would win the AFC South. The Colts should pull off the upset in this one and definitely cover the +9.5 spread as they will win 27-24.
Lock of the Week
The New England Patriots have been on a tear as of late and the only thing that would slow them down would be if they rested their starters, but with Bill Belichick at the helm that will never happen. It seems like it doesn’t matter who the Patriots play and this week that team is the San Francisco 49ers. They meet in Foxboro for the Sunday night game, which could be over before halftime.
With Colin Kapernick starting again, the 49ers have very little chance of beating the Patriots. New England’s Tom Brady has been putting up video game numbers with 29 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. New England has won 7 in a row and 9 of their last 10. They will make it 8 in a row as they will blow out the 49ers by a score of 41-17.
