Brett Favre Plans to Retire? Not So Fast
Reports swirled this morning as news broke that Brett Favre had informed some Vikings teammates via text message that he would be retiring.
Hmmm. Never head that before.
Oh wait, forgot about this. And this. We can’t leave this out either.
So it comes as no shock that Brett Favre has decided to hang up the cleats for the third offseason in a row.
It’s a yearly tradition!
What would the NFL offseason be without speculating about Brett Favre’s future?
So I’m not taking this attempt to retire too seriously.
Seriously Brett, a text message. Who are you, a 14 year old girl?
What’s next? Your going to text everybody tomorrow saying”Jk Lol. Haha I really had all of you guys going didn’t I. See all you guys when training camp is over. Oh and by the way Brad, my jacket size is a 44 long. And my right arm is a bit longer than my left (from Happy Gilmore if you didn’t know.”
He hasn’t even told the coach he’s retiring.
So don’t get your panties in a bundle, this isn’t news.
Brett Favre just woke up in a bad mood today in a lot of pain.
Just wait until preseason action starts to heat up and the itch will be back.
It’s not worth your time to keep up with all the twists and turns in the Brett Favre saga.
Just wait until he makes an official announcement and then we can talk about it.
Oh shoot, what about when he did this.
So we won’t know for sure until 8:30 on September 9th when the Vikings open the season in the Super Dome against the defending champs.
But what about that convenient week 4 bye the Vikings.
How great would it be to see Favre come back and play his first game on Monday Night Football against his former team, the New York Jets in their new stadium.
What a sight that would be. The media would eat that up.
Until then, all we can do is wait. But unfortunately, in today’s world of wanting to be the one who breaks the news first, we jump the gun at reports like the one today hoping that in the end they will be right and will get all the credit for correctly predicting it.
If you don’t think that’s true just ask Steven A. Smith.
So that’s it for now on the Brett Favre front. But don’t fret, Rachel Nichols will be dispatched to Hattiesburg asap and will be parked on Brett Favre’s lawn giving us updates every time he does so much as take a dump.
Hey and if he doesn’t end up coming back, the Vikings can always give JaMarcus Russell a call.
Brett Favre System
ESPN has been shoving Brett Favre down our throats for the past few months and by now most of us can’t stand the guy. But it appears now that they have realized that fact and are taking a different approach.
Of all the attempts made to poke fun at Brett Favre and his always changing mind the world wide leader has taken the cake.
In their newest addition to their “This is SportsCenter” commercial series ESPN struck comedic gold.
So sit back and just enjoy the brief yet hilarious spoof.
