NFL Week 13 Suicide Pick

[picappgallerysingle id="7209716"]

It was an easy week last Sunday as the Chargers took care of business against the Chiefs, trumping them 43-14.

Otherwise it was a rather easy week as there were no big upsets.  Were heading into the stretch run now and I’m sure there are plenty of people left in your pool, but we got you covered here.

There are a lot of nice matchups this week and you should have a decent pick available.

Fist my Week 12 Suicide Pick:

It was a stress free week last week as the Vikings easily took care of business against the Seahawks.

It was a big week of upsets last week as the Steelers and Bengals went down, so to those of who resisted picking them congrats.

NFL Week 11 Suicide Pick

[picappgallerysingle id="7055185"]

It was a nerve racking week last Sunday as I went with the Miami Dolphins, who barely escaped with a victory over the Bucs.  After Henne threw a interception with under two minutes left i though it was over, but the Dolphins found a way to come out with a win.

The big upset last week was the Redskins topping the Broncos.  I’m sure at least a few people took the Broncos, so congrats on resisting the tempation and surviving another week.

This week is not short on favorable options and you should have a bevy of options.

Now onto this week’s suicide pick:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Win

NFL Week 9 Suicide Pick

I picked the Bears last week and they easily cruised to a 30-6 victory, extremely close to my predicted score of 28-6.

Last week was fairly upset free except for the Panthers topping the Cardinals but I doubt many, if any people took the Cardinals in your suicide pool.

This week is no different from any week so far this season, with plenty of options for your suicide pick. Now onto this week’s pick:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Win

Week 6: Pittsburgh Steelers Win

Week 7: Carolina Panthers Loss

Week 8: Chicago Bears Win

The pick for week 9 is the Atlanta Falcons

After a promising 4-1 start the Falcons have taken a step back the past two weeks and now stand at 4-3.  There really is no shame is the recent skid though because they have lost on the road at Dallas and New Orleans, two of the leagues premier teams.  This week they get the perfect remedy for their woes, the Washington Redskins

It is no secret about the turmoil going on the nation’s capital now.  The team is in complete disarray and despite winning two games is no question one of the worst teams in the league.  Their two wins have come against the win less Buccaneers and the one win Rams and they have given the Lions and Chiefs their first and only win of the season.  The decision to give play calling duties to Sherman Lewis proved no difference against the Eagles and Lewis can’t suddenly make Jason Campbell into a quality starting quarterback.

On Monday Night Football last week we saw the Michael Turner of last season for the first time.  He looked fast in getting to the outside and displayed his power, shouldering through multiple defenders.  He has scored a touchdown in six straight games and that streak should continue this week.  The ‘Skins rank in the bottom ten of the league in rush defense and we could see Turner run wild against them.

The Falcons gave the Saints a run for their money last week and for a while there it looked like they were going to pull the upset.  I see the Falcons getting back on track here and they easily dismantle the Redskins.

Final Score: Falcons 35 Redskins 10

In case you have used the Falcons here are some other teams I like this week:

Packers over the Buccaneers- The Pack would be my pick if I hadn’t taken them before.  Rookie Josh Freeman makes his NFL debut this week.

Seahawks over the Lions- At home against the lowly Lions.

49ers over the Titans- Played the Colts very tight and need to win this game.

NFL Week 8 Suicide Pick

I went risky last week instead of going with he favorite and I got burned.  They were at home and won two straight but that just goes to show you never bet on Jake Delhomme.  I couldn’t tell you why the Panthers passed the ball 44 times compared to only 25 runs against one of the worst run defenses but that’s why John Fox is on the hot seat.  Anyway, enough about last week.

Unless you picked the Panthers, you’ll still alive this week and with said onto my pick for this week:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahwaks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Win

Week 6: Pittsburgh Steelers Win

Week 7: Carolina Panthers

The pick for week 8 is the Chicago Bears.

After starting 3-1 the Bears have dropped two straight and now sit at .500.   They got embarrassed by the Bengals last week but who better than to take out their rage than the Browns.

The Browns were crushed again last, this time by the Packers and tit happened at the dog pound.  In the 31-3 thrashing the Browns were out gained by over 300 yards.  It marked their fourth game of the season in where they’ve scored six point of fewer.  So in over half of their games they have failed to score a touchdown.  The switch to Derek Anderson has not provided the spark Eric Mangini thought it would and he is actually playing worse than Brady Quinn.  His passer rating hasn’t topped 7o and its been over 55 only once in his four starts.

If ever there was a game for Matt Forte to break out it’s on Sunday.  The rookie sensation from last year has fallen victim of the dreaded sophomore slump.  He isn’t getting any help from his o-line, which is struggling to open holes, and he hasn’t been featured as much in the passing game as Cutler prefers to go deep.

This week the Bears did replace left guard, Frank Omiyale, with Josh Beekman who started every game last season.  Cleveland’s run defense ranks 31st in the league and last week Ryan Grant got his season rolling against the Browns with his first 147 yard effort, his first time over the century mark this year.  I expect Matt Forte to do the same as the Bears roll.

Final Score: Bears 28 Browns 6

In case you have used the Bears here are some other teams I like this week:

Chargers over the Raiders- This team pickd it up last week and will keep the momentum going against the Raiders.

Cardinals over the Panthers- Two team going in opposite directions.

Cowboys over the Seahawks- The ‘Boys looked great last week and get the injury plagued ‘Hawks at home.

NFL Week 7 Suicide Pick

I played it safe last week going with the Steelers and it payed off.

There were two big upsets last week and finally some people were eliminated from your suicide pool.  The Eagles were obviously the big upset victim and a few people probably took the Jets as well.

This week there are a few teams that I’m liking.  Now onto the pick for this week:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Win

Week 6: Pittsburgh Steelers Win

The pick for Week 7 is the Carolina Panthers

The Panthers come into this game on a two game winning streak after starting the season 0-3.  The Panthers finally got back to what they do last week, running the ball, and payed off big against the Bucs.

The Bills did win last week against the Jets but it’s hard to say that they actually won the game.  The Jets handed the game to the Bills on a silver platter and they still needed a last second field goal in overtime in win.  The Bills will also be starting Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, due to Trent Edwards injury.  Fitzpatrick completed just 40% of his passes last week after he came in for Edwards and in his 12 starts last year with Cincinnati he amassed a 70.0 qb rating.

Last week the Panthers ran for 267 yards against the Bucs and had DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart rush for over 100 yards.  This Bills on the other hand, gave up 310 yards, yes 310, to the Jets last week.  I expect the Panthers to keep the formula they used last week and get a nice victory over the Bills as they climb back to .500.

Final Score: Panthers 23 Bills 10

In case you have used the Steelers here are some other teams I like this week:

Patriots over the Bucs- After the Pats beat the Titans 59-0 last week, how much are they gonna beat the Bucs by?

Colts over the Rams- This one should be over by halftime.

Jets over the Raiders- A risky pick, but his looks like a rebound game for the Jets.

NFL Suicide Pick: Week 6

I rolled the dice a bit last week going with the Cowboys and boy did they cut it close.  But thanks to Miles Austin, the Boys pulled out the win in overtime.  In suicide pools it doesn’t matter how your team wins as long as they do and that’s what the Boys did.  This week is another big week for favorites as there are five teams favored by 10 points or more so you should have your fair share of options for this week.  Now onto the pick for this week:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Win

The pick for Week 6 is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers come into this game on a two game winning streak and feeling good after getting off to a 1-2 start.  Rashard Mendenhall has been great recently filling in for Willie Parker, and appears to be the answer for their ground game woes.

The defense has not been playing so well since Troy Polamalu but playing the Browns should fix that.  They did finally start to get to quarterback last week though, sacking Daunte Culpepper 7 times.  Last year’s defensive player of the year, James Harrison, had three sacks and his partner in crime, LaMarr Woodley, had 1.5 sacks, his first sacks of the season.  The seoncdary gets to face Derek Anderson, who was only 2 for 17 last week and that was against the Buffalo Bills.

The Browns did win last week but the odds of them winning two in a row are slim to none.  The Steelers are at home and they won’t overlook a divisonal opponent.  Expect the Steelers to cruise to an easy victory.

Final Score: Steelers 35 Browns 10

In case you have used the Steelers here are some other teams I like this week:

Jets over the Bills- Rex Ryan’s bunch is upset about the last second loss and what better way than to take it out against the Bills.

Eagles over the Raiders- They’re playing the Raiders.  Enough said.

Jaguars over the Rams- If your feeling risky this week, the Jags are the pick.  The 41-0 blowout loss last week prevented them from being my official selection this week, but they should win this week at home.

NFL Suicide Pick: Week 5

There weren’t any big upsets last week and very few people, if any, were eliminated last week in your pool.  It has been a down year for big upsets, but don’t worry if almost everyone is still remaining in your pool.  The upsets are coming, you just have to be patient.  My pick last week, the Giants, played ahead the whole game and were never really tested against the Chiefs.  There are a lot of big favorites this week, giving you plenty of options of who to pick.  Now onto week 5:

Teams already used:

Week 1: Seattle Seahwaks: Win

Week 2: Green Bay Packers: Loss

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens: Win

Week 4: New York Giants Win

The pick for week 5 is the Dallas Cowboys.

This now marks the second straight week I’m picking against the Chiefs at Arrowhead.  It’s a shame what has become of what once was one of the best home field advantages in the game.  While the the final score of the Chiefs-Giants game read 27-16, the game was never close.  The Giants got out to a 27-3 lead and the Chiefs scored two touchdowns in garbage time to make the game appear somewhat close but the result was never in doubt.

Meanwhile, for the Cowboys this game is huge.  Lucky for them they get the Chiefs.  The Chiefs are just what the doctor ordered for Tony Romo.  Romo has failed to throw a touchdown in two weeks an has been ineffective in three out of four games.  Eli threw for three scores and almost 300 yards last week, Kevin Kolb put up even better numbers, and JaMarcus Russell led a game winning drive against them.  I expect Romo to put up about 250 yards and 2 scores. Also the Cowboys strong point, their running game, should have a field day against the porous run defense of the Chiefs.

On the other side the Chiefs can’t do anything on offense.  The running game is non existent and the only weapon on the offense is Dwayne Bowe, who is now being doubled by defenses.  I’m sorry but Bobby Wade and Sean Ryan aren’t going to keep defensive coordinators up all night.  This should be a nice rebound game for the ‘Boys after a tough loss in Denver last week.

Final Score: Cowboys 28 Chiefs 16

In case you have used one of the team I have taken here are some other teams I like:

Steelers over the Lions- The Steelers got rolling last week with their win against the Chargers and they should keep it going in Detroit.

Eagles over the Bucs- They Eagles get McNabb and Westbrook back and have had a bye week to prepare for the Bucs.

Vikings over the Rams- They’re playing the Rams.  That’s all you need to know.
